Can I volunteer?

Most of FRU's volunteers are law students or lawyers.

To make sure that our volunteers are ready to take on cases, we normally require that they have reached a certain stage in their legal education. The minimum criteria for volunteering are set out below. If you do not meet the criteria, but have relevant experience, please contact us.

Social Security

To qualify as a Social Security Representative, you must be at least a 3rd year LLB student (or have reached May in your penultimate year) or a GDL student.

Employment

To qualify as an Employment Representative, you must be an LLB graduate (or have reached May in your final year), an LLM student or a GDL student.

All Volunteers

Volunteers must be able to visit our office on High Holborn, London regularly in order to deal with their cases. Volunteers must be willing to comply with the Bar Code of Conduct.

FRU will make reasonable adjustments to allow those with disabilities to volunteer. Please let the administrator know if you need any adjustments.
