How do I volunteer?

Before you can volunteer for FRU you must go through training and ratification.

If you are a qualified lawyer, or have relevant experience of representing clients, we may waive some or all of this process. If this applies to you, please contact us by e-mail detailing your experience.

The Four Stage Process

Potential volunteers will need to:

  • Attend a training day
  • Complete a test
  • Observe a tribunal
  • Attend an office induction to take on a case

Previous System

We used to ask prospective volunteers to submit an opinion.  This practice was replaced by the new tests in summer 2008.

Generally

Only when you have completed the above steps do you become a FRU volunteer. Please do not hold yourself out as a FRU volunteer unless you have actually taken on a case for us.
